It is recording hours and project expenses so you can bill accurately, see costs by phase, and measure utilization. Clear records improve cash flow and margins.
Billable time is work tied to a client project that you can charge for. Non-billable covers admin, BD, training, and similar activities. Label both so reports stay honest.
Project expenses you pass through to the client, often with an agreed markup, such as printing, mileage, and travel. Check your contract for the list and rate.
